Deepam eye hospital was started as a small clinic 'Deepam eye clinic' by Dr.V.Raghuraman MBBS, DO, DNB (opthal), FRCS (Glasgow), FICO (UK) Vitreoretinal surgeon and Dr.Malini Raghuraman, MBBS, DO, DNB (opthal), FICO (UK) Anterior segment surgeon on the 19th of August 2005 in the presence of Dr.Bhaskaran a senior opthalmologist in Chennai. To begin with general opthalmic consultation and all anterior segment surgeries were done.
Later in the year 2008 the small Deepam eye clinic was shifted to the present premises and the same was upgraded as Deepam eye hospital. Inaugurated on the 9th of March 2008 by the chief medical officer of Arvind eye caresystem Dr.V.Narendran in the presence of Mr.Abdul Basth, president of Kilpauk muslim welfare association the hosptial started off in a big way.
